Honda CB Unicorn 160 launched

Honda Motorcycle & Scooter India Pvt. Ltd. has just launched a new 160cc CB Unicorn, in two variants – one being the CB Unicorn 160 standard, priced at ₹69,350, the other being the CB Unicorn 160 CBS, which is basically the same bike that’s equipped with a combined-braking system, costing ₹74,414 (ex-showroom, Delhi). Both versions of the new Unicorn feature a 240mm disc brake up front and rear drum setup (no option of a rear disc) on 17-inch alloy wheels.

The CB Unicorn 160 houses Honda’s all-new 163cc single cylinder unit that’s developed with Honda Eco Technology (HET) to produce peak power of 14.5bhp @ 8,000rpm and 14.1Nm @6,000rpm. This motor is mated to a 5-speed gearbox. The new bike that weighs in at 135kgs has a claimed top speed of 106kph and boasts a fuel economy figure of 62kpl.

The rather conservatively styled new CB Unicorn looks much like the older CB Trigger, just with minor tweaks to it. Although the new bike borrows many technical aspects from the Trigger – like the telescopic front forks and the monoshock rear suspension – the headlamp unit, the LED tail lamps units, fuel tank with extensions, and saree-guard design have been restyled and are unique to the CB Unicorn 160. The new bike is available in 4 colours. While Honda has started taking orders for the new Unicorn 160, deliveries will commence from the 3rd week of January 2015.
